Here is a behind the scenes shot from yesterday's bridal shoot at Wicker Park Studio in Chicago. We had a lot of fun shooting all day, and I plan on uploading images from the shoot in the near future.
I was going through some photos from a couple of years ago, and I came across this photo that I shot from Lake Michigan. It was the summer of 2012, and I was on a boat tour that travels up the Chicago River and then out into Lake Michigan. It was great to see downtown Chicago from a different perspective.
When we were pulling out into Lake Michigan, the sun was setting, and it made for a great scene. It almost looked like the city was on fire. I shot a lot of photos on that boat tour and this shot of the skyline is one of my favorites.
I have been doing some personal projects lately, and they really are the most satisfying shoots. I get to come up with an idea and execute it from start to finish. I can do whatever I want, and I am always happy with the outcome because I have total control. My most recent project was shooting beverage shots of a Two Brothers' Sidekick, their extra pale ale. It's a delicious beer, and I had a good time shooting it. Here is the first photo from the shoot.
After finishing up with this shot, I decided to take it a little further in photoshop and I created this. I am happy with the way both of them turned out.
Well....I'm going to give this whole blogging think a try. I haven't really done much blogging in the past, but I figured, why not? I will try to post updates and other information about what I'm doing on here as much as possible.
My biggest update right now has to do with my website. I just added two new sections to my photography portfolio. I added some of my real estate photography and some of my product photography. Most of the real estate photography was shot in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Lately, I have been enjoying shooting real estate and products a lot more. I love being a freelance photographer in Chicago, because there are so many opportunities, and I never know what each day will bring.
I will try to update this blog as much as possible, but we will see. Check out the updates on my website and let me know what you think. www.jaredpowellphotography.com/portfolio .
